Work Boat, Lighthouse, and Waterfowl Art of the
Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic and Gulf Coasts

It is with great sadness that we inform you that John C. Ritter passed away on April 19, 2016.  His family will continue to respond to inquiries and many items will continue to be available through this site.  All show and exhibit activity is currently suspended, but we will post changes to this web site.  For information on visitation and funeral arrangements, see his obituary in the Baltimore Sun.

This site includes images of all of my art.  It is primarily dedicated to signed and numbered limited edition fine art reproductions of my original art and is organized by medium; pen and ink, watercolor and oil.   Also note that all images of my art shown on this web site include a link to a description of each scene. This link can be accessed by clicking the name of the picture beneath the image which is shown in yellow.  The description describes the scene and, where appropriate, includes a brief historical perspective.

No retail location is maintained and I work out of my home based studio.   My central focus is on maritime and harbor scenes showing the maritime industry at work.  I have a special interest in tugboats and maritime activity on the Chesapeake Bay and around Baltimore Harbor from the 1950s to the 1980s when maritime activity in the area was at a peak.
